Everything you need to know about selling on Car Parts Marketplace. From setting up your store to growing your business.
Car Parts Marketplace connects Australian car parts sellers with buyers across the country. Whether you run a workshop, operate a wrecking yard, or simply have parts to sell from your garage, our platform gives you access to thousands of buyers actively searching for the parts you have.
Unlike general marketplaces like eBay or Facebook Marketplace, Car Parts Marketplace is built specifically for auto parts. Our Year/Make/Model fitment system means buyers only see parts that actually fit their vehicle — which means fewer questions for you and faster sales.
You must be an Australian business with a valid Australian Business Number (ABN). This applies to workshops, wreckers, parts retailers, and private sellers who are operating as a business. We verify every seller to maintain trust and quality on the platform.
Becoming a seller takes about 3-10 minutes. Here's what happens:
Once onboarding is complete, our staff will review your application. Most sellers are approved within 24 hours. Once approved, you can start listing products and selling immediately.
Your store is your shopfront on Car Parts Marketplace. A complete, professional-looking store builds trust with buyers and helps you stand out from other sellers.
Go to Store Settings → Branding to upload your visual identity:
Add your phone, email, and website in Store Settings → Basic Info. This information is displayed on your store page so buyers can reach you directly. Having multiple contact methods builds credibility.
Set your operating hours in Store Settings → Business Hours. This helps buyers know when to expect responses. If you're available outside normal hours, set them — buyers love fast responses at 9pm.
Your store is accessible at carpartsmarket.com.au/stores/your-slug. Share this link on your website, social media, business cards, and email signature. Every listing you create automatically links back to your store.
Good listings sell faster. The more detail you provide, the fewer questions you'll get and the more confident buyers will be in purchasing.
You can upload up to 10 photos per listing. Photos are the first thing buyers look at, so make them count:
Every listing needs these core details:
This is the most important field for buyers. Use the Year/Make/Model picker to tag every vehicle your part fits. Buyers filter by their vehicle — if you don't tag it, they won't find your listing.
The picker supports 32+ Australian-market brands including Toyota, Ford, Holden, Mazda, Hyundai, Kia, Mitsubishi, and more. You can tag multiple vehicles per listing.
Always include the manufacturer name and part number. Many buyers search directly by part number — if yours isn't listed, you'll miss those sales. Even if the buyer doesn't know the part number, having it in your listing helps with search visibility.
An SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) is your internal shelf code. It's not visible to buyers — it's just for you to track inventory. If you have a large inventory, SKUs help you find parts quickly. Use any format that makes sense to you.
Placement tells buyers where on the vehicle the part fits: Front, Rear, Left, Right, or Universal. This is especially useful for parts that only fit one side of the car (mirrors, fenders, etc.).
Your listing goes live immediately. You can edit it anytime from the Products page. Changes take effect instantly — no approval needed. If a part sells, mark it as sold or delete the listing to keep your store clean.
Our fee structure is simple: you only pay when you make a sale. There are no listing fees, subscription fees, or hidden charges.
We charge 2.7% + $0.30 on every completed sale. This covers platform hosting, payment processing, buyer support, and marketing. The fee is deducted from your payout automatically.
Stripe charges 1.75% + $0.30 for Australian domestic cards. This is separate from our platform fee and is deducted before the platform fee is calculated.
Stripe charges a higher fee for international cards (typically 2.9% + $0.30). If your buyer uses an overseas card, your net payout will be slightly lower. The platform fee remains the same.
All payments are processed through Stripe, a PCI Level 1 certified payment processor. Buyers pay with their credit or debit card, and the money is transferred to your bank account.
During seller onboarding, you'll create a Stripe Connected Account. This involves:
Your account is created immediately — no waiting period. You can start receiving payments as soon as your first sale.
If you need to change your bank account, go to Store Settings and update your BSB and account number. The change takes effect for your next payout.
Go to Store Orders to see your Payout Balance card. This shows your pending balance (awaiting payout) and total earnings. For a detailed breakdown, check the Analytics → Financial tab, which includes revenue, fees, and a downloadable PDF statement.
When a buyer purchases your part, you'll see the order in your Store Orders dashboard. Respond quickly — fast processing leads to better reviews and repeat customers.
Every order has a sequential order number (e.g., Order #1, Order #2) specific to your store. This makes it easy to track and reference orders in conversations with buyers.
Each order shows the buyer's name, shipping address, and any special instructions. On desktop, the context panel shows the buyer's order history so you can see if they've purchased from you before.
Deals help you attract buyers, move slow inventory, and reward loyal customers. You can create percentage discounts, fixed-dollar discounts, or both.
Promo codes are unique within your store. When a buyer enters a valid code at checkout, the discount is applied to matching items. Only one promo code can be used per order.
Share promo codes via email newsletters, social media, your store page, or even on business cards. They're a great way to track which marketing channels drive sales.
The Deals table shows each deal's status (Active, Scheduled, Expired, Inactive), redemption count, and total revenue generated. Use this data to understand what promotions work best for your store.
Returns are a normal part of selling. How you handle them affects your reputation and reviews. Set clear return policies in your listings and respond promptly to return requests.
Good communication is the fastest way to build a reputation on the platform. Buyers are more likely to purchase from sellers who respond quickly and professionally.
Every order has a built-in chat. Use it to answer questions, provide shipping updates, share additional photos, and resolve issues. The chat is accessible from both the buyer and seller side.
On desktop, the context panel shows the buyer's order history, other purchases, and relevant information. This helps you provide personalised service without asking the buyer to repeat themselves.
Aim to respond within 24 hours. Faster responses lead to faster sales. If you can't respond immediately, set realistic expectations in your business hours.
Your seller dashboard has five analytics tabs to help you understand your business and make data-driven decisions.
Key metrics at a glance: total revenue, order count, average order value, and conversion rate. The revenue trend chart shows performance over time with selectable date ranges (7D, 30D, 90D, 12M, All).
Detailed breakdown of revenue, Stripe fees, platform fees, and net earnings. Includes your payout balance with BSB and account number display. Export a PDF statement for your records.
Order fulfillment metrics: processing times, shipping status, and return rates. Identify bottlenecks in your workflow and improve efficiency.
Stock levels and alerts: low-stock warnings, stale inventory (parts listed 90+ days with no sales), and category breakdowns. Use this to manage your inventory effectively.
Buyer demographics: repeat purchase rates, geographic distribution, and purchase patterns. Understand who your buyers are and tailor your inventory accordingly.
Based on data from top-performing sellers on the platform, here are the strategies that work:
